Orion Beer Festival 2009

Two weekends ago, Joey and I met up with some friends and went to the Orion Beer Fest 2009, which was held in conjunction with the All Okinawa Eisa Dancer Festival to celebrate the end of Obon.

A brief summary for you - Obon is much like Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) that Mexicans celebrate and Orion is a beer that is brewed locally on the island, which makes sense that they would have their own beer festival!

I'm not much of a beer drinker, but in honor of the occasion I had a few.

We showed our support and wore out Orion t-shirts we bought at last year's beer festival.

And an Okinawan festival isn't complete without fireworks!

More good times, with great friends!

Thanks for your post Liza! Do you by any chance know when the beer festival will be this year?

No I don't, sorry! In 2008 it was in August, and last year was in September.

So just keep a look out - it coincides with the All-Eisa Festival and is held at the Koza Sports Park near Gate 2 of Kadena AB.
